The Harbour has inspired some of Australia’s most treasured artworks.
Sydney Harbour is a unique and inspirational place. Our relationship to it changes with the seasons as well as our needs – but it is always beautiful and alive with human activity and nature. Views of bushland, the Bridge, the city and the daily hustle and bustle of the water has made it a vibrant muse for artists for millenia.
Art on the water takes you on a journey celebrating the Harbour – from the great lineage of Aboriginal Dreaming to the present day, investigating artists as diverse as Esme Timbery, Arthur Streeton, Brett Whitely and Arthur Boyd to name a few.
